Shortly before half term, a group of year 11 students spent the weekend with Fr Labran and Miss Johnson at The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Here, the students were able to learn first-hand about Christian Pilgrimage both historically and in the present day. They observed various services at the Shrine and learnt about the ‘High Church’ or ‘Anglo-Catholic’ tradition in the Church of England. They also attended talks by some of the staff, including a lively nun, Sr Angela, who regaled them with amusing and colourful stories of her time working as a missionary doctor in the East End of London (yes, an actual Sister from the ‘Call the Midwife’ era!).
