Last Monday lunchtime, I hosted the first ever session of the newfound Poetry Club. Open to years 11, 12 and 13, the club is designed for students to share and discuss poems they have found or written, encouraging an interest in discovering and writing poetry.
Our first meeting saw a much larger turnout than I was expecting, and via two pieces written by club members Will and Zac, alongside the brilliant 'Howl' by Allen Ginsberg, we were able to discuss the poems within the context of drug use.
The theme of our next session on Monday 8th October is War, and I encourage anyone who thinks they might enjoy listening to some pieces by their peers to come along!
