To add to the atmosphere of a jolly Jamaican Day in the catering department, the sun shone brightly as the temperatures soared. As green and black flags and palm strewn beach scenes decorated the buttery and refectory all we needed was a delicious Jamaican lunch to complete the scene.
Richard, Curtis and Angela pulled out all the stops to tickle our taste buds with a real taste of Jamaica on Wednesday. There was Pumpkin and Coconut soup with Jamaican Hard Dough Bread followed by Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wrap and a traditional warm and spicy Lamb and Sweet Potato Curry. We also served a Pulled BBQ Jackfruit Burger and some Salt Fish Fritters. For dessert we had a scrumptious Jamaican Ginger Cake and Mango & Lime Cheesecake. Everyone enjoyed tasting these delights from the Caribbean.
We are already planning our next theme day which will take place on Thursday 1st November and is going to be a Mexican Feast to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican festival of colour and joy to show respect and love for deceased family members.
