Top grades continue to climb for GCSE pupils
Emanuel’s 2018 GCSE year group and their teachers are to be congratulated on continuing the growth of exam outcomes across recent years. With 100% pass rate, 38% A*/9/8 and 63.6% A*/A / 7/8/9, they should be very proud of their value-added achievements.
This is also a particularly impressive showing for our boys and girls in the context of national changes to content and format in the public exams. 11 GCSE subjects were entirely new formal assessments for this year group. The A*/ 9/8 outcome of 38% illustrates the school’s upward direction of travel over the last six years: an improvement of 16.5% at this top level since 2013. For the second year running over two thirds of the exams were awarded at A*/A and we are delighted to see that the average point score per pupil has been sustained at 70 points, equivalent to 10 A grades.
The headmaster has said, ‘these results reflect tremendous personal application from a number of our boys and girls- we all hope that they are delighted with their added development over time and are looking forward to their A levels and wider enjoyment of school life in the term to come. They should be proud of their contributions to Emanuel’s continued growth and success.’
