Last year, Mr Andrews started the Christmas Charity project as a result of a conversation with Mrs Zena Sanders (mother of Tetta, upper sixth).
The project is part of St Mark's 'Cheer' initiative (‘a leading ministry for the encouragement, healing and restoration of those who find themselves parenting alone. Cheer includes any person who has sole responsibility for the care of a child/children’). The initiative is run by Lucinda, whose own children are former pupils at Emanuel.
Following very positive feedback last year, the project was rolled out over both the lower and middle school, with all 33 forms contributing two Christmas bags. Mrs Sanders supplied details of local single parent families that the bags would go to support so that each form could 'bespoke' their presents.
Members of staff took the bags to St Mark's Church yesterday, from which they will be distributed to the families supported by 'Cheer'.
