Year 6 celebrated Christingle last Wednesday at St Mark's Church.
The celebration is named after the Christingles that are lit during the service, which are made from an orange decorated with red tape, sweets and a candle.
Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:
Vasily K and Lily C introduced and explained the Christingle
Cal K introduced the Children’s Society, for which the collection was made
Mina B and Manasseh L read a poem 'Every day is Christmas'
Ana P and Jake R read the Christmas story from St Luke
Daisy P ended the service with a poem 'It’s a birthday'
Reverend Walker led the service, which reminded pupils of the Christmas story and made them think of children less fortunate than themselves.
Enormous thanks to parents who gave generously and made a significant contribution to the collection for the Children’s Society, which works with vulnerable children in Britain.
